A Complete Marble Décor Project for a Private Estate in California, USA

Project Overview

Project location: California, USA
Project scope: Classical marble sculptures, portrait busts and custom pedestals, marble urn planters, and a marble fountain

A California homeowner wanted to bring the character of classical marble sculpture into a large villa, indoors and out. Rather than choosing each piece in isolation, the client contacted Trevi Art Sculpture to plan a coordinated collection for different spaces across the property. Through discussions about the villa and the client’s preferences, we helped narrow down the sculpture subjects, display pieces, and garden features that suited the project.

The collection included marble interpretations of celebrated classical works, a group of portrait busts with custom display pedestals, matching marble planters, and a multi-tier fountain. The photographs below show selected pieces completed at our factory; they are not photographs of the finished installation at the villa.

Classical Marble Sculptures

For the principal marble sculptural pieces, the client chose three dramatic subjects. Each brings a different mood to a space, giving the villa a collection that feels considered rather than repetitive.

Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss

Our marble interpretation of Antonio Canova’s Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss focuses on the tender embrace and sweeping lines of the two figures. The wings, outstretched arms, and softly carved drapery make this a piece to appreciate from more than one viewing angle. In the factory-completion photograph, the finished sculpture stands on its own marble base.

Laocoön and His Sons

The client’s selection also included Laocoön and His Sons, a much more intense composition. The twisting figures, expressive faces, and intertwined forms call for close attention to carving detail. Set alongside the quieter romance of Psyche, it gives the collection an engaging contrast in movement and emotion.

The Rape of Proserpina

The third major piece is a marble interpretation of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s The Rape of Proserpina. Its upward-reaching figures and interlocking forms create a strong vertical presence. The supplied factory photograph captures this work alongside other completed pieces, including a fountain, before they were displayed in the client’s home.

Marble Busts and Custom Pedestals

Alongside the full-figure sculptures, the client ordered a collection of classical marble busts. The subjects included Julius Caesar, Diana, Medusa, and other figures from the classical tradition. Busts offer a different scale of art: they invite a closer look at facial expression, hairstyle, and carved clothing, while allowing several personalities to be displayed as a group.

We also produced custom marble pedestals for the busts. A pedestal is more than a stand—it helps set a comfortable viewing height and makes the presentation feel intentional. For this project, the client selected both light-colored column-style pedestals and contrasting red-toned marble bases. The completion photos show examples of the pedestals and two bust-and-base combinations; they should not be read as a labeled photo of every named bust in the order.

Marble Urn Planters

The marble planters carry the project’s decorative language into the landscape. The client selected a set of classical urn-style planters with floral relief and matching pedestal bases. Repeating the urn shape gives different areas of a large property a sense of continuity, while the carved ornament stands on its own even before planting is added.

The photo shows four of the completed planter-and-pedestal sets at our factory. Their final planting and placement are not shown here.

Marble Fountain

To complete the outdoor collection, the client chose a multi-tier marble fountain. Its broad round basin, carved rim, and tiered centerpiece give the garden a substantial visual anchor and add the movement and sound of water to the setting. The factory photo shows the completed fountain with water running during a workshop test; it is not a photograph of the fountain installed at the California villa.

Client Feedback: Enjoyed in Daylight and After Dark

Once the sculptures were installed, the client was delighted with the results. He was very pleased with the quality of the carving and the beauty of the marble, and told us how much he loves the sculptures in his home.

He also took the time to photograph the pieces in different settings, in bright daylight and again at night under warm lighting. The images show how the marble changes with the light: soft and luminous during the day, dramatic and atmospheric after dark.

Planning Marble Decoration for an Entire Residence

This project shows why a residential marble collection works best when the pieces are considered together. A full-figure sculpture has a different visual role from a bust; a pedestal changes how a bust is encountered; urn planters and a fountain help carry the same classical character into outdoor spaces. Our discussions with the client connected those choices to the rooms, exterior areas, and personal preferences behind the project.

At Trevi Art Sculpture, we make natural-marble statues, busts, pedestals, planters, and fountains for residential projects. If you are planning marble decoration for a villa or another large property, contact our factory with your preferred styles, reference images, and photos or dimensions of the spaces. We can discuss a coordinated selection of pieces and the details of each sculpture before production.
