About Saint Rita of Cascia
Saint Rita of Cascia (1381–1457) was an Italian Augustinian nun known for her extraordinary faith, patience, and devotion to Christ. Born in Roccaporena, Italy, she experienced many hardships throughout her life, including personal suffering and the loss of her husband and children. Despite these challenges, Saint Rita remained devoted to prayer, forgiveness, and serving others.
She entered the Augustinian monastery in Cascia, where she dedicated her life to religious service. Saint Rita is especially remembered for receiving a miraculous wound on her forehead resembling the crown of thorns of Christ, symbolizing her profound union with the suffering of Jesus. Today, she is widely honored as the patron saint of impossible causes, difficult situations, and those seeking hope during hardship.
