The Myth Behind the Perseus and Medusa Statue
The Perseus and Medusa statue draws on one of the most celebrated tales of Greek mythology. Perseus, the legendary son of Zeus, was sent on a perilous quest to slay Medusa, the Gorgon whose gaze turned all who met it to stone. Guided by the gods, he carried winged sandals, a polished shield and a sword given by Hermes. By watching her reflection instead of looking at her directly, Perseus beheaded Medusa and carried her head away as proof of his victory.
Since the Renaissance, this moment of triumph has inspired sculptors across Europe, and the Perseus and Medusa statue remains a lasting symbol of courage, wisdom and victory over fear.
Our Perseus and Medusa Marble Statue
Our Perseus and Medusa statue is hand-carved in the Neoclassical tradition, capturing the hero at the instant after his victory.
Perseus stands in a graceful contrapposto, his weight resting on one leg while the other relaxes. His right arm extends outward, gripping the sword, and his raised left hand holds the severed head of Medusa. A flowing cloak drapes from his arm and cascades down the side of the figure, adding movement and balance to the composition. The winged Phrygian helmet on his head completes the heroic look.
Premium White Marble
Each statue is carved from select natural white marble with a fine, uniform grain and a soft, luminous finish. The stone develops a refined patina outdoors, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor display. It is durable, weather-resistant and built to stand for generations.
